The Love Center Food Pantry

Food Assistance Guidelines

 

Our Food Pantry is located in the Community Resource Center, located on the terrace level of the New Worship Center. You can visit our pantry once a month. The Food Pantry is open on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Thursday of every month, except for July. The pantry is closed for the entire month of July.

 

The pantry is always closed the last week of each month for administration.

 

The hours of the food pantry are from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

The schedule for the Food Pantry is as follows:

1st Thursday - Last name begin with: A, B, C, D, U, V, W, X, Y, Z

2nd Thursday - Last name begin with: E, F, G, H, M, N, O, P

3rd Thursday – Last name begin with: I, J, K, L, Q, R, S, T

 

For Seniors Adults, 55 years old and older, you may come on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Wednesday of every month, except July, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

 

For Senior Adults, the Food Pantry schedule is as follows:

1st Wednesday - Last name begin with: A, B, C, D, U, V, W, X, Y, Z

2nd Wednesday - Last name begin with: E, F, G, H, M, N, O, P

3rd Wednesday – Last name begin with: I, J, K, L, Q, R, S, T

 

You MUST bring the following to receive full food pantry assistance:

 

  1. Picture ID – to verify your identity & residency.

Please note: No one will be turned away! You will receive food even if you do not have an ID. However, you will not be able to qualify for some of the programs we have available.

 

Once you bring this information, you will be issued a membership card, which will list the dates you can return and shop at the Food Pantry.  After your first visit, you will only need to bring your membership card and picture ID and complete the TEFAP form only.

 

 

So, what should I expect when I visit your food pantry for the first time? Smiling Faces and Lots of laughs. We are honored to participate in the divine act of service. Here's a rundown of our food pantry experience:

Step 1: Intake

 

*Prior to the start of our pantry service, we hold a brief devotion service consisting of a scripture, song and prayer. Guests ARE NOT REQUIRED to participate in the service and are given the option to either step outside or remain seated*

 

Food pantry guests are asked to complete two forms during the intake process: TLC Intake form and USDA/TEFAP Household Eligibility Form. Once completed, at the designated time, guest as asked to present their two forms and picture ID to our intake specialist. Our intake specialist will record guest’s name, number of person’s household, identifying the number of Seniors and Children and verifying they completed the TEFAP Household Eligibility form. Once all forms have been completed, our guest will receive a membership card, listing the date they can return in the following month. Please note: If guest do not have an ID, they are giving a missing information slip, detailing what is needed to receive a membership card.

 

On the membership card, the intake specialist will list how many persons reside in the household (one box per household/address), identifying the number of children and adults. For each guest whose household has children, their card will be specially marked, so they can receive GNAP foods. At the end of the intake session, the intake specialist will go over their card with them, highlighting their return date and have them sign their card.

 

Once guest have been completed checked in, they are given a “heart” and/or asked to sit in a designated area, with instruction to wait for their escort. The escort will gather the guest and take them to the area where they will receive their food.

 

Step 2: Food Distribution

The food for The Love Center Food pantry is housed in Suite A. Prior to our service time, volunteers are asked to pack up food bags/boxes which consist of items in our inventory. Boxes should weigh no less than 18 pounds. In addition to pre-packaged boxes, volunteer set up additional tables with items that guests can receive, along with GNAP items for those who care for children.  In addition to food, our outtake specialist will be prepared to record our guest’s name, types of food they received (meat, GNAP, etc) and the weight of their complete basket.

 

Escorted guest will be directed through the food process, given directions on what foods and the quantity they can receive. Please note: those who have children in their home will have a special indication on their membership card, which will allow them to pick up food from the GNAP table. Once the guests are done with collecting the additional items for their food basket, all items will be weighed and weight will be recorded. Once recorded, guests are thanked and escorted to the exit. Help is provided for those who need assistance taking their food to their cars. It's as simple as that!
